SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT, INFORMATION SERVICES

 

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for this permanent position at UCT Libraries. This post assists librarians in providing an effective and efficient library services to UCT staff and students.

 

Requirements include:

 

·         A librarianship qualification or a university degree

·         Excellent computer literacy

·         Ability to use library electronic resources

·         Good organisational and communication skills

·         Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation

·         Flexibility and ability to work within a team as well as independently

·         Good numeracy skills

·         Attention to detail

 

This post involves evening and weekend work.

One year of experience in an academic or research library would be a recommendation.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

·         Assisting with reference and information services

·         Collection management and maintenance

·         Providing administrative support

·         Supervision and training of student assistants.

 

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R185 775 and R218 546.
