Co-ordinator Information Services & Senior Subject Specialist: Commerce
We invite applications from qualified candidates for this permanent post in UCT Libraries. The successful candidate will ensure coordination and management of information services for a faculty, particularly in support of academic and postgraduate information services and support.
Requirements include:
· Appropriate University-based library qualification
· University subject degree
· 5-10 years experience in subject area or in related library area
· Understanding of relationship of specific subject area with overall academic enterprise
· Demonstrated awareness of international trends and benchmarks in support of specialist subject support
· Understanding of collections and other issues related to information services in research libraries
· Significant experience in working with users, including postgraduates and academics
· MBA or Masters degree in Commerce and broad educational background (Consideration will be given to candidates due to complete an MBA or Masters degree in Commerce qualification by the end of 2011).
This post involves evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities include:
· Coordinates and manages faculty information services, particularly in support of academics and postgraduates
· Provides expertise as senior subject specialist for a faculty
· Ensures overall quality and consistency of collection development and access to information resources
· Liaises with faculty structures and contribution to faculty discussions regarding the Libraries
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R344 130 and R404 849.
