As part of a dissemination strategy for the findings of an important
project that explored the impact of local copyright regimes on access
to educational materials within eight African countries - called The
African Copyright and Access to Knowledge Project (ACA2K), the local
non-profit organisation The African Commons Project has developed a
short survey aimed specifically at South African teachers and
librarians. The survey hopes to analyse teachers' and librarians'
understanding and responses to copyright in their personal working
environments. The survey will lay the groundwork in preparation for a
workshop that we will be hosting around copyright and access to
educational materials. The aim of the workshop is to structure the
ACA2K South Africa-specific project findings into a user-friendly
resource for teachers and librarians.
Please note that this survey is highly confidential and aims to
encourage librarians and teachers to express their understanding or
uncertainties around daily copyright challenges. As an incentive to
answering the survey, the first 30 respondents will receive free
branded ACA2K flashdrives.
The survey will be open until 30 March 2011, and thereafter the
findings will be analysed and shared with the teaching and library
communities.
The survey can be accessed at the following link:
