Please forward this e-mail widely!
We would like to ask you to contribute any relevant research papers (dealing with higher education) which you have authored to our online open access archive, the African Higher Education Research Online (AHERO).
AHERO is open access document repository that focuses on the study, practice and governance of higher education in Africa. It aims to improve the visibility, utility and impact of existing studies and research on the practice of higher education in Africa and it provides an avenue for promotion and dissemination of existing studies.
Please upload or send us any relevant papers that you have authored, including research reports, conference papers, pre- and post- published journal articles, theses, manuals and teaching materials.
There are two ways for you to deposit your files in AHERO:
1) E-mail the file to us at ahero@uwc.ac.za and we will do the deposit for you.
2) Use the depositing text menu options on our site http://ahero.uwc.ac.za/index.php?module=cshepostlogin&action=submissions : you will be taken through a semi-automated deposit process that takes less than 5 minutes.
Many authors are concerned about copyright and depositing texts in the AHERO archive: Most publishers allow the deposit of pre-prints (the version of articles before the peer-review process) but if they do not, we will do the following:
1. When the paper is deposited on our site, we will provide the abstract and other descriptive information, but "hide" or embargo the full text, in compliance with the publisher's rights.
2. Persons wishing to read your paper have the possibility to select a "Send e-print" button, which sends us an e-mail requesting us to send the full text of your paper to them separately.
In this way, anyone may discover your paper and read it, without AHERO contravening the publisher's copyright. We also encourage authors to send us their pre-prints (unpublished versions) which may then be made freely accessible.
We are eagerly awaiting your response and contributions as they would be of interest and benefit to many.
Thank you for your consideration
Ibrahim Harun and Steve Anderson
