[Lib-helig-l] Library Orientation: Discussion at HELIG AGM

Dear Colleagues

For those who missed the HELIG AGM in Cape Town earlier in October:

The discussion centred around Library Orientation, with our international guest, Ned Potter from the University of York Library, sharing what happens at York.     Here is a link to that presentation:

There was a good discussion and sharing of our own library orientation practices  -  so thank you to those who participated!

Attached is a short presentation about the University of Free State’s library orientation session.  The programme is planned in conjunction with the Student Services Division and it is called the Gateway Programme.   The library staff have been allocated an hour long daily slot during the week of Orientation where we have a very basic Power-point presentation (20 min) and library tours (40 min). Please find the presentation attached.  We also have ongoing Departmental Information Literacy programmes throughout the year.

Thanks Senovia Welman for sharing!  If you would like to share your library’s programme, (or for those who did share at the AGM and would like to share more widely),  please send this to lib-helig-l@lists.uct.ac.za  or put it up on the HELIG facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LiasaHelig

Regards

Ingrid Thomson
