[Lib-helig-l] UCT Libraries' vacancy: Web editor - contract (ref: 2451)

 

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for this one-year contract post in the Libraries. The successful candidate for the position is responsible for a) overall editorial/content management

of the Libraries website, b) lead/mentor/assist multiple library website content managers, c) ensure compliance with the University Web Content Management Policy, d) formulating and implementing

web content and marketing strategy, e) monitoring of the Libraries’ web presence, and f) ensure the website is up to date, navigation clear and content is user centric.

 

Requirements:

 

·         Grade 12

·         3 years writing & editing experience in a publishing or related environment

·         2 years web copywriting

·         Knowledge of web usability principles, search engine optimisation and information architecture

·         Proven experience managing social media portals in a business or related environment

·         Proven experience of working in an Information Technology environment

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, use initiative, and be flexible.

·         Accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Effective time-management skills and the ability to prioritise and multi-task within a pressurised environment.

·         Ability to meet strict deadlines.

 

A working knowledge of content management systems including digital archives is a strong recommendation.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Formulate and implement an editorial plan for the  Library website as well as content strategy

·         Develop and monitor copy intended to market key aspects of UCT Libraries

·         Implement effective web copywriting principles

·         Create, edit and update the content of the Library website and ensure that UAT is carried out in accordance with the Library’s user-centric approach

·         Contribute to content on official social media platforms

·         Assist and support all stakeholders with their web content requirements

·         Provide reports on statistics to all stakeholders

·         Ensure compliance with the institution’s web and social media policies.

 

The annual cost of employment, is between R161 344 and R255 044.
