[Lib-helig-l] Appeal: Book donations - conservation library

Please contact Ms Grethe Mattheus on research@sainst.org  for more information.

Alternative contact information: liaison@sainst.org, registrar@sainst.org, programme@sainst.org, curriculum@sainst.org

Our institution is the foremost provider of lab-based, heritage conservation training programmes in South Africa. Founded in 1994, the Institute is currently entering the accreditation phase of its development - transitioning towards an Institution of Higher Learning

The field of remedial conservation predominantly resorts under the sciences, and - worldwide - entry to practice is typically gained via a recognized MA conservation studies programme. As the development of our campus infrastructure continues to expand, we are keen and ready to grow our modest library's printed resources, ensuring that it may serve the post-graduate programme which we are establishing. Residing at the intersection of the hard sciences and the arts (to a degree), the Institute hereby appeals for book donations extending to a broad range of subjects - summarized in the listing below. Certain subjects have specific relevance to the field practices of our institution's outdoor conservation unit, The Heritage Conservation Group, which engages conservation in the built environment.

We wish to register ourneed for volumes and journals in the following fields:

Ø       Heritage Conservation

Ø       Material Science

Ø       Chemistry

May we perhaps request that the overall appeal be distributed via the LIASA mailing list? If you should wish to receive supporting documentation or references, I shall have pleasure submitting the same.

We look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for your kind assistance...

With kindest regards,

Ms Grethe Mattheus
