[Lib-helig-l] vacancy at UCT Libraries - Information Services Librarian: Government Publications

 

We invite applications from qualified candidates for this permanent post in the Government Publications Department of UCT Libraries. 

 

Requirements:

 

·         First degree (other than in the field of librarianship) in addition to a PGDipLis, BBibl (Hons) or equivalent

·         Relevant experience in an academic or research environment

·         Teaching and coaching skills

·         Sound interpersonal skills and client service orientation

·         A good working knowledge of electronic information resources

·         A high level of computer literacy

·         Research and analytical skills

·         Planning and organising skills

·         The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

·         Good written and verbal communication skills

·         Ability to work under pressure, show initiative and multi-task

 

Experience in dealing with government publications, as well as good subject knowledge in History, Politics, Economics, Environmental Studies or Law, would be a recommendation.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

·         Reference and research services

·         Providing instruction to classes or focused groups

·         Liaison with relevant academic departments

·         Collection development

·         Providing access to the collections through digitization and web- and print-based access tools

 

Please note that this post involves some evening and weekend work.

 

The annual remuneration package, including benefits for 2013 is between R317 843 and R373 890.
