LIBRARY ASSISTANT
FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES LIBRARY
We invite applications for the position of Library Assistant, for appointment as soon as possible.
The Health Sciences Library, based in Observatory, is a busy branch library serving the needs of the Health Sciences Faculty. As the successful candidate, you will join the team responsible for providing service at the Circulation Loans Desk of the Health Sciences Library and performing various administrative duties to support this service. You should be willing to work some evenings and weekends.
Requirements include:
· Grade 12 or equivalent
· Computer skills, including e-mail, Excel and MS Word
· Numeracy skills
· Ability to work in a team and independently
· Ability to work under pressure
· Ability to pay attention to detail and follow up
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Good organisation skills
· Client service orientation
Recommendations:
· Library experience
· Knowledge of an online circulation system.
Responsibilities include:
· Desk duty: issuing/returning/reserving material, answering telephone queries, assisting with stock queries
· Dealing with overdue, recalled and claimed-returned library material
· Processing hold requests and loans to branches
· Shelving and shelf reading
· Ordering stationery
The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is negotiable between R112 640 and R132 537.
