Our worldwide virtual conference starts tomorrow, November 2! The opening welcome session is at 6:30 am in California, 9:30 am in New York, 1:30pm in London, 7:00pm in Mubai, 10:30pm in Tokyo, and 12:30am (Nov. 3) in Sydney. How exciting!
Here are some final notes for those who are participating.
1. The conference is free.
2. The conference main page is at
http://www.library20.com/page/2011-conference and will display any special announcements during the conference. For instance, we are getting word from some folks that there is a problem with the Google Chome browser opening the session rooms, and we are recommending if you have this problem that you use another browser.
3. To configure your computer and to attend a session, click on the SESSIONS & SCHEDULE page at
http://www.library20.com/page/sessions-and-schedule. Find the time zone page for your part of the world, then click on the individual session from the listing. There will be a link to the session room in the session description (the live session links go up later tonight before the conference starts). To comment on the accepted conference submissions, or to correspond with presenters, click here.
4. To see a recording of a session that has already taken place, go to
http://www.library20.com/page/general-session-room-links. The recording links will not work until the recordings have been processed.
5. The number of registrations for the conference has exceeded all expectations. Yesterday alone we had over 500 registrations, bringing us to 5,500 registrations (from 151 countries!). This is really good news, but may have an unintended consequence. Since Blackboard Collaborate session rooms have a bandwidth-related limit of 700 participants, if you attempt to enter a session room and get the error "connection failed - the conference has been locked" then the room is full and you will have to watch the recording instead.
6. We are very sorry, but we don't have a way to give any credit for sessions or to confirm your attendance.
7. If you are an experienced user of Blackboard Collaborate (our software platform for the sessions), we could still use some volunteer moderators! Please see the information at
http://www.library20.com/page/volunteers-1 and look for the link to the scheduling calendar signup page.
Speaking of volunteers, it's time to give a HUGE shout-out to everyone who has helped prepare for this conference!
