[Lib-helig-l] Open Access to Research Seminar: 24 October 2011 (Stellenbosch University, South Africa)

Colleagues

In the international arena the Open Access Movement has made significant strides with leading universities and research institutions committing to openly sharing its research output. Stellenbosch University has also joined this international cohort of open access advocates and has signed the Berlin Declaration confirming its commitment to openly sharing its research output. During the past year the University has made considerable progress in terms of opening access to information. The University is also actively preserving its research output (research articles, theses, dissertations, etc.) via its institutional repository, SUNScholar, with 14 100 records listed to date. The University commitment has grown in leaps and bounds culminating in ‘publishing’ journal titles in open access forums using open source software.  The year 2011 has been exceptional for Stellenbosch University in terms of showcasing its commitment to open access and the concomitant showcasing of its research output. Therefore the University has pleasure in inviting you to the launch of fourteen journal titles (of which nine are DoE accredited) that will be published using the open source software, Open Journal Systems (OJS).

You are invited to celebrate the above achievements with us, and to join us for the social event afterwards. We are looking forward to you attending this seminar!
